Description

Product Overview

A soft silicone finger toothbrush that fits over an adult fingertip. The soft bristles clean the first teeth and massage the gums around them.

The reason a finger brush works well on a very young baby is feedback. With a handled brush you are guessing at the pressure; with your finger inside the brush you can feel the gum, feel where the tooth is, and feel immediately if you are pressing too hard.

  • You can feel exactly how much pressure you are applying
  • Soft silicone bristles clean teeth and massage sore gums
  • Easy to control on a small mouth
  • BPA free
  • Simple to clean and sterilise
  • Suitable from newborn through the teething months

How to Use

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly and sterilise the brush before first use.
  2. Slip it over your index finger and check it fits snugly.
  3. Sit the baby on your lap facing away, head resting back against you — you can see into the mouth from there.
  4. Gently brush along the gum line and any teeth in small circles.
  5. Twice a day, with a smear of age-appropriate toothpaste once teeth are through.

Safety — Check It Before Every Use

  • Inspect it every single time. Stretch it gently and look for splits or thinning. A finger brush that tears in a baby’s mouth is a choking hazard.
  • Make sure it fits your finger snugly — a loose brush can come off.
  • Never let a baby hold it or chew it unsupervised. This is a tool for an adult to use.
  • Discard it at the first sign of a tear, split or discolouration.
  • Replace it regularly. Silicone degrades with repeated sterilising.

Cleaning and Sterilising

  • Wash in warm soapy water before first use and after every use, then rinse thoroughly.
  • Sterilise by the method your equipment supports — steam steriliser, cold-water sterilising solution, or five minutes in boiling water. Check the item is boil-safe first.
  • Let it air-dry on a clean surface rather than rubbing it with a tea towel.
  • Store somewhere clean and dry, not loose in a nappy bag.
  • Replace anything cracked, split, discoloured or chewed through. Damaged surfaces hold bacteria and can break off.

When to Start Cleaning a Baby’s Mouth

Before the first tooth. Wiping the gums with a clean damp cloth or a finger brush from the early weeks gets the baby used to having their mouth touched, which makes the transition to brushing far easier. Once the first tooth appears, usually around six months, brush twice a day with a smear of toothpaste suitable for the age.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use toothpaste with it?

Yes, a smear of age-appropriate toothpaste once teeth are through.

How often should it be replaced?

Every one to two months, or immediately if the silicone shows damage.

Is it better than a handled brush?

For very young babies, yes — you have more control and can feel the pressure. Move to a small handled brush once several teeth are through.
