Product Overview
Dot & Key Blueberry Hydrate is a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ PA++++ sunscreen built for dry and sensitive skin. The two ratings measure different things: SPF is the UVB scale — the rays that burn — while PA measures UVA, which penetrates deeper and drives tanning and photoageing. PA++++ is the highest grade on that scale.
What distinguishes it from a plain sunscreen is the barrier repair positioning. Dry and sensitive skin often reacts badly to sunscreen, and the usual culprit is a formula that strips or sits badly rather than the filters themselves. A hydrating base makes daily wear realistic, which matters more than any rating: the sunscreen that works is the one you actually put on.

How to Use
- Apply as the last step of your morning skincare, after moisturiser and before makeup.
- Use around two finger-lengths for face and neck. Most people apply a third of what the SPF rating assumes, which is why real-world protection falls short of the number on the tube.
- Let it settle for 15-20 minutes before going outside.
- Reapply roughly every two hours outdoors, and sooner after sweating, swimming or towelling.
SPF, PA and Blue Light
SPF 50 filters roughly 98% of UVB; the jump to SPF 50+ adds a small increment beyond that, not double the protection. PA++++ is the top UVA grade. Blue light — the visible light from screens and, far more significantly, from the sun — has been linked to pigmentation in deeper skin tones, which is why more sunscreens now mention it. Sunlight remains by far the largest source of it; a phone screen is not the problem a screen-time headline suggests.
Patch Test First
Before using a new active on your face, try it on a small area — the inner forearm or just below the jaw — and leave it for 24 hours. Mild tingling on application is common with acids and settles; stinging, burning, redness that spreads, or itching that persists is not, and means the product is not for you.
Introduce one new product at a time. If three go on together and skin reacts, there is no way to tell which one caused it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will it leave a white cast?
No — it is formulated to finish clear, which is what makes it workable on medium and deep skin tones.
Is SPF 50+ needed indoors?
UVA passes through window glass, so if you sit near a window for long stretches it is still worth wearing.
Can I use it on sensitive skin?
It is formulated for dry and sensitive skin, but patch test anyway if you react easily.
How should I store it?
Somewhere cool and dark, with the cap closed. Heat and light degrade actives — vitamin C and retinol especially — so a bathroom windowsill is the worst place in the house for them.
