Product Overview
Joona Baby Sun Fresh Sunscream is a Korean SPF 50+ / PA+++ sunscreen formulated for babies and for adults with delicate, easily irritated skin.
The reasoning is sound and worth stating plainly. A baby’s stratum corneum — the outermost layer of skin — is very thin, and contains less melanin than an adult’s. Children are therefore less able to resist ultraviolet radiation than adults, which makes protecting them from the sun genuinely necessary rather than optional.
It is a physical sunscreen, not a chemical one. Chemical filters penetrate the skin and neutralise UV internally; this formula uses fine particles, predominantly titanium dioxide, to create a reflective barrier on the surface that deflects UV directly. That mechanism is widely regarded as the safer profile, which is why it is the usual choice for infant skin.
Despite the mineral base it is designed to absorb rapidly, leaving skin silky rather than greasy — a real concern with mineral formulas, which can sit heavy.

How to Use
- Apply evenly to exposed skin 15-20 minutes before going outside.
- Use generously — thin application is the main reason sunscreens underperform.
- Reapply roughly every two hours outdoors, and after swimming, sweating or towel-drying.
- For very young infants, shade and clothing remain the first line of protection. Check with your paediatrician before using sunscreen on babies under six months.
Who Is It Suitable For?
Babies, children and adults with delicate or sensitive skin. Mineral filters are typically better tolerated by reactive skin than chemical ones. Patch test on a small area first, as you would with any new product on a child. Avoid on broken skin.
Why a Physical Sunscreen for Babies?
Because of how the two types work. Chemical filters need to absorb into the skin to do their job; mineral filters sit on top and reflect. On skin as thin and permeable as an infant’s, keeping the active on the surface is the more cautious choice — and it is why paediatric guidance generally points towards mineral formulas.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between physical and chemical sunscreen?
Physical (mineral) filters such as titanium dioxide form a reflective layer on the skin surface. Chemical filters absorb into the skin and neutralise UV there. Mineral is usually preferred for babies and sensitive skin.
Can I use it on a newborn?
Check with your paediatrician. For infants under six months, shade and clothing are generally recommended before sunscreen.
Will it leave a white cast?
Titanium dioxide formulas can leave some cast; this one is designed to absorb rapidly. Blend it in well.
Can adults use it?
Yes — it suits anyone with delicate or reactive skin.
How often should it be reapplied on a child?
Every two hours outdoors, and immediately after swimming or towel-drying.
